Federal Cuts Threaten Summer Learning Programs

Recent funding cuts from the U.S. Education Department are jeopardizing essential summer learning programs. In Baltimore, the loss of approximately $48 million in reimbursements has led to the suspension of tutoring and after-school programs, potentially eliminating around 12,000 summer program seats compared to the previous year. Similarly, South Dakota has canceled career exploration programs on college campuses due to federal funding changes.​
